Your active support is needed to make the restoration of the Newtown regional rail line a priority.
Please use our e-mail form to contact officials within the municipalities and counties that the Newtown line serves,
as well as elected State and Federal officials in the region.
Transportation projects are prioritized in several ways. Municipalities, counties and the region all have planning
commissions which help determine and set which projects receive funding, and which do not. While municipal and
county planners, along with DVRPC are aware of the level of interest in reactivating Newtown rail service, it is
not currently part of the region's long range plan, as defined by DVRPC's "Connections 2035" document. SEPTA has
subsequently removed the Newtown line from its capital budget.
In order for the Newtown project to be reconsidered by DVRPC's board of directors, its members, along with county and
municipal planners must be made aware of the continued interest in the need for this service. PA-TEC provides an email
form on this website that allows you to contact your local, county, state and federal officials to convey your interest
in the Fox Chase-Newtown regional rail line.
